I've loved Fukumoto for years, so I can't believe this is the first time I'm writing a review. They have some of the best Japanese food in town. You have to get their uni pasta. Seriously, it's the dish I've consistently thought about over the years. It's so creamy and delectable, and you could honestly share with three people and still feel quite full. My friends and I also ordered a variety of their yakitori, which we all really enjoyed. Everything is cooked and seasoned extremely well. I love that Fukumoto's menu is so large because you could visit five times and still not have cracked the surface of all that they have to offer. Service is impeccable, and everyone is so friendly! Definitely an Austin gem.

GET THE UNI PASTA. This was hands down the best dish we ate. It was super creamy and flavorful. I want to come back just to get this pasta again! We ordered four skewers: unagi, negima, sunagimo, and yakiton. The unagi (eel) and negima (chicken thigh w/ scallions) were my favorites of the four we tried. The eel was so soft, and the chicken thigh was incredible juicy with a sauce that wasn't overly sweet. The yakiton (pork belly) was flavorful as well and had a nice char to it but was just on the tougher side for my preference. As for the sushi, you can't go wrong with either the tuna or yellowtail. We also ordered the chestnut mont blanc for dessert. I'm a HUGE fan of mont blanc, so I was excited to try this but it was just alright. I enjoyed the chestnut filling in the middle, but I felt it was lacking enough chestnut flavor overall.

Apparently there is validated parking at the Corazon garage if you dine in! I believe up to a few hours. We did not notice the signage on the corner before parking. There is also plenty of street parking which you can pay via the Austin parking app Food and service were excellent. We ordered several items to try, starting with their yakitori of chicken, pork, and king salmon. Although the yakitori were grilled to perfection, the uni pasta we shared was also quite addictive

Decent yakitori restaurant that can accommodate big groups. We came on a Monday evening with a group of 10, no reservation, and they were able to set up a private room for us. Their food choices aren't really traditional Japanese items. I tried the following: - Chicken Karaage (4/5): The karaage was crispy and seasoned. The dipping sauce was more runny than I usually see with karaage but paired well. - Tonkotsu Gyoza (2/5): I did not expect this to be creamy and the gyoza to be more soup-like than pan fried. Wasn't the biggest fan of the flavor combos, though the gyoza itself tasted fine. - Negima Yakitori (4/5): You can't go wrong with a classic chicken thigh skewer. The chicken was juicy and tender. I do wish it were a bit more charred. Flavor was good. - King Salmon Yakitori (4/5): The piece of salmon you get is quite large! Flavor was good. - Chocolate Crepe Cake with Yuzu (4/5): The yuzu is a bit salted with I was not expecting. It was also off to the side while I thought it would be drizzled on top. The cake itself wasn't too sweet and was light and airy to eat. - Ube Tiramisu (5/5): Star of the show. The ube flavor was good and not too sweet. The portion size is also huge and can easily be split amongst multiple people. They top it with candied walnuts but to be honest, it doesn't need it and I don't think they provide any improvements to the tiramisu. I also got this cocktail: - ILY so Matcha (2/5): The drink is certainly green but the matcha taste? Nonexistent. It mainly was overpowered by the yuzu. I don't mind yuzu but it was a bit disappointing. Service was decent, though there was a bit of a hiccup when food was coming out. They were nice and friendly and accommodating to our group.

The chashu don bowl is really good! I feel like the rice in the bowl (sticky rice) is the same as the rice they used for the sushi. I believe the rice should be different, so when I was eating the nigiri, the texture felt very odd to me, so it was quite disappointing. The desserts are really good, with the star being the ube tiramisu. They have a secret dessert menu that you can ask for. We made a reservation, and got a private room all to ourselves, which was great! However, service was slow and water was hardly refilled. All of our cups were empty and we had to ask for water a second time at the very end of our meal. It took 10 minutes to get the check, and another few minutes to come back and take our cards.

First time in, and we will be back! This place does everything right. All tables were booked for reservations around 830pm on a Saturday, so we sat at the sushi bar, which was actually pretty fun because we got to see them making our food. We got two of the sushi rolls (Murasaki was so good!) and a bunch of yakitori (bbq skewers), and the bacon wrapped scallops were our favorite. We ended it all with the mochi for dessert. This was some of the best and freshest sushi we've had. Service was 10/10 and the decor inside was so cute!

We walked in around 6:50 to get dinner before heading to the Chelsea Cutler concert and most of the tables in the restaurant were already reserved so I would recommend booking a reservation before coming if possible. The menu is pretty extensive but full of great things! We got the chicken karaage (soooo tender and crispy, my favorite karaage to date), uni pasta (phenomenal), and tofu (on the specials menu) to share between the 3 of us. We were floored by how tender and flavorful the yakitori was, especially the pork belly. The roll was refreshing and the sushi basically melts in your mouth. For alcohol, I got the ILY so matcha which is like a yuzu drop with matcha. The drink itself does indeed look green but I tasted no matcha whatsoever lol but I will say the drink was refreshing. All in all, we loved everything that came out. A footnote: I would have absolutely given this place 5 stars because the food was so good but unfortunately I got food poisoning from this experience and my friends also felt ill afterwards.. :(

The $60 chef's choice sashimi plate is insanely good. I've never had fish this fresh and high quality. It is not overhyped. Come here for the sashimi and the Yakitori. Everything else is just filler. The atmosphere is bar-y and casual but you will drop $150-200 per couple so get your wallets ready.

I first came to Fukumoto several years ago, but as it was during the pandemic, I truly don't remember much (other than that I liked it). I had the pleasure of returning tonight, and I brought three of my friends! We all loved it! We each ordered a bunch of dishes and tried much of the menu. My favorites were the oyster mushrooms (not on the general menu) and several of the nigiri. So delicious and fresh! Service was very attentive and quick. Our server provided excellent recommendations off the menu. Street parking was easy enough to find, which is always nice!
